Accessibility at Colibrí Soul Studio

Workshops are available at our studio on a “pay-what-you-can” scale. We have a recommended fee, but we value the importance of making art accessible to everyone in our community. Our studio is ADA accessible and service animals are allowed with prior arrangements.

We are also available for private lessons. Please take a look at what we can offer below or we can customise classes to fit your goals and schedule.


Drawing Class - In this 8 to 10-week class for beginners and more advanced alike, you will learn steps to realistic drawing using dry mediums such as graphite, charcoal, and Conte crayons. Beginners and those who haven't drawn in a while will learn new skills, while intermediate students will build upon what they know with challenging projects.  No experience necessary.

Painting Class – In this 8 to 10-week Class for beginners and more advanced alike, this class introduces you to Watercolor, Gouache and Acrylic painting techniques.  You begin with still-life and progress onto figure painting, landscape & plein air. No experience necessary.

Drawing Workshop – This beginner 3 to 6-hour long workshop is quick guide for any starting artist that consist of learning and utilizing the principles of design and the elements of art.  Workshops will have a theme, such as: Still Life, Figure Drawing, Landscapes and more.  All ages welcome!

Watercolor Workshop – This beginner 3 to 6-hour long workshop is a must for beginner to intermediate watercolor painters.  Watercolor is an exciting and challenging medium. Gain skills and confidence while exploring its unique characteristics in a supportive group setting. Critiques – honest and constructive – are focused on your goals and highlight the positive.

Gouache Workshop - Love Watercolor but wanting to try something bold?  This Gouache workshop will provide a basic introduction to the materials and methods of working in gouache, or opaque watercolor. Gouache's distinctive flat, bright tones provide a wonderful change from the shiny, heaviness of oils!

Sikuli Workshop - A God's eye (in Spanish, Ojo de Dios) is a spiritual and votive object made by weaving a design out of yarn upon a wooden cross. Often several colors are used. ... The Huichol call their God's Eyes Sikuli, which translates to "the power to see and understand things unknown."

Sikuli, or God's eye, are cultural and native gifts created year-round through the usage of yarn that are woven to grant protection or to celebrate many different occasions! Come enjoy the history and create your own charm! 

Retablo Workshop – In this 3 to 6-hour long workshop, we shall discuss the importance of the retablo in devotional art along with the history and meaning of this Mexican devotional and cultural artform.

Although retablos are generally used to display religious devotion, specifically those of the Catholic faith, the workshop will be non-denominational and open to everyone, of all beliefs and religions. We welcome you to express your faith, your devotion, or your gratitude in this ancient and traditional art form that has become very popular in the Southwest and Borderlands.

Drawing & Painting Pet Portraits - From photographs, you will learn how to capture the essence of your animal companion.

Basket & Accessories Coiling - Using natural materials such as pine, seagrass, moss, twigs and other vine plants, you will learn to create small baskets or other sculptural pieces. Learn how to forage for your own materials and find thrift shop treasures to include in your work.

Garden Mosaics & Bee “Baths” - Have fun creating garden art! Our pollinators need safe places to access water too and these sparkly bee baths are shallow vessels decorated with rocks and glass jewels for safe landing spots.
